Merchants feared a rest house said to be haunted by wailing. Tenali rented the room and discovered an unpaid window.
Wind moaned through a cracked frame. Tenali stuffed the gap with rags and the ghost retired without protest. He posted a sign: “Haunting repaired, two coppers per night.” The rest house filled; the wail found employment as flute music when a traveler with a reed arrived.
